    Obtaining Luxembourg nationality after 5 years of residence in Luxembourg

    Moien ASBL helps you prepare for the exam to obtain the luxemburgish nationality, which will take place at the INLL.

    Acquiring the luxemburgish nationality is linked to attending the courses and passing the exams listed below.

    Sproochentest and Certificate for the course ‘Living together in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg’

    People applying for citizenship must take the Luxembourgish language assessment exam (‘Sproochentest’) at the National Institute for Languages in Luxembourg (INLL). The Luxembourgish courses offered by the INLL and the Luxembourgish courses organised by the Adult Education Service and its partners prepare students for this exam, which tests level A2 in oral expression and level B1 in oral comprehension.     These individuals must also present the certificate for the course ‘Living Together in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg’. The certificate is issued by the Adult Education Service to individuals who have completed 24 hours of classes or who have taken an exam for this course.

    The ‘Living Together in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg’ course and exam, taught in Luxembourgish/German, French or English, cover the following topics:

    • fundamental rights of citizens (6 hours of lessons – 10 questions);
    • state and municipal institutions of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg (12 hours of lessons – 20 questions);
    • history of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and European integration (6 hours of lessons – 10 questions).

    The exam is a computer-based test consisting of multiple-choice questions. The exam is held in Esch-Belval and the courses are held in Luxembourg City, Esch-sur-Alzette, Esch-Belval and Diekirch.
